About the Season of Creation
The Season of Creation is a time for Christians around the world to renew our relationship with God, our Creator, and all of creation through prayer, reflection, and action. For the Catholic Church, this season holds special significance - Pope Francis officially endorsed it in 2015, calling on the faithful to live out the message of Laudato Si’ in caring for our common home.
It begins on 1 September with the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation and concludes on 4 October, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology. Throughout this period, the Church rejoices in the gift of creation while encouraging initiatives that raise awareness, inspire ecological conversion, and take concrete steps to protect the natural environment.
This 2025, we invite you to celebrate, give thanks, and actively care for all that God our Father has entrusted to us, for His glory, for the good of all people, and for the flourishing of His creation.

Let us come together to celebrate this new liturgy and pray for more to join in our efforts to care for God’s gift of creation. | |
Nature Walk | [LIMITED TO FIRST 20 REGISTERED PAX] Join us for an easy stroll around MacRitchie Reservoir and the MacRitchie Nature Trail. Date: Sunday 7 September Time: 9.00am to 11:00 am Venue: Meet near roundabout near visitor centre at MacRitchie Reservoir Park (location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y6SwbaUBFXMoiWg99) We will spend a leisurely morning exploring the start of the MacRitchie Nature Trail and the forested banks of the reservoir. Highlights will include learning to distinguish between young regenerating forests and mature forests hundreds of years old, walking past the site of the future Catholic Hub, and learning about exciting initiatives to contribute to the resilience of this precious ecosystem. Please bring drinking water (at least 1 liter), comfortable walking shoes and outdoor wear, and a sunhat and raingear - it may be sunny, rainy, or both! Biodiversity Talk: "Peace with Creation: Restoring Biodiversity" | Though God’s plan for Creation is rooted in justice and peace, human sin disrupts this, leaving Creation in ruin. Throughout history, many human activities have contributed to the destruction of Creation. Peace extends beyond the absence of conflict to the full restoration of broken relationships. This restoration encompasses our relationship with God, ourselves, the human family and the rest of Creation. There is hope for a peaceful Earth. It involves prayer, action and reconciling with Creation and the Creator through repentance and solidarity.
