"In service to others…" With three young children, many may imagine that Victor and Annabelle Ong would hardly have enough time to spend with them. But this young couple has not only manged to balance work and family, they have also managed to include volunteer work into their busy schedule. "It is not difficult for us to commit to volunteering," says Victor, "as we believe that we are all called by God to serve in His Church and help our fellow brothers and sisters. In fact, our volunteer work has brought us closer together." Victor, a general manager at a business association, and Annabelle, a childhood educator, have two daughters and a son – Christabel, 10, Clairabel, 4, and Zachary, 8. Both Victor and Annabelle have been pilot presenters at Choice, journeying with young single adults for the past 10 years. They also serve as catechists at the Church of St Anne. In addition, Victor is also a parent volunteer at Holy Innocents Primary School. "We would encourage everyone to serve in whatever way they can in the area that is of interest to them," says Annabelle. "Take the first step and keep in mind that your service is to God and you would find serving a joy." As they have found volunteering and serving others so enriching, they recently added one more volunteer role to their list by joining in the Couple Empowerment Program for young married couples. |
