"Volunteering is addictive…" Eunice Olsen, 29, is widely known as a champion for the volunteering cause. Volunteering has been a way of life for the former Miss Singapore-Universe and Nominated MP. Eunice is so passionate about volunteering that she has reached out not only to the less fortunate in Singapore, but also to those in the region. She says: "Volunteering is addictive. The fulfillment and satisfaction… I tell you, you can't get it anywhere else. The satisfaction, when you feel it, you know. And it stays with you for a very long time." Eunice has been an ambassador to three charities, as well as contributed to projects and sat on committees of youth organisations. She recently set up Knowledge in Developing Societies (Kids) to help impoverished children in the region. Apart from social work, Eunice has also started Ingenious Minds, which conducts leadership motivational training and grooming and deportment courses. "I love volunteering and I find that I'm always learning something," she said. "So I want to volunteer for the rest of my life because you can never stop learning. And I'm doing something that not only benefits me but others as well, so why stop? It's become a part of my life." |
