Labourers of the Harvest (LOTH)

A Group Study Guide on Catholic Social Teaching (CST) at the Workplace for Working Adults.

For many of us working adults, our jobs occupy a significant place in our lives. We spend much of our days in the office. We spend most of that time trying to meet targets and deadlines. We constantly worry about earning and saving enough to meet our needs. In the midst of all this pressure to perform and succeed, we sometimes lose perspective and forget the meaning and purpose of our work in the light of our faith. Thankfully, we can turn to our Church’s social teaching to remind ourselves that our work ethos can and must be grounded upon our Christian ethic.

Caritas Singapore is extending this group study guide of 12 sessions to all working adults. The Labourers of the Harvest (LOTH) guide applies our Church’s social teachings to the work environment to help us, as Catholics in the secular workplace, integrate our faith with our work.

Labourers of the Harvest (LOTH) Study Guide FAQs

Who is it for?

Labourers of the Harvest (LOTH) is specially designed for working adults who struggle with the challenges of integrating their faith into their working lives. Get together as a group to spend some time reflecting and discussing “faith at work” issues. You may also use this study guide within existing groups such as RCIA sponsors, Catechists, Parish Pastoral Councils (PPC), Small Christian Communities, and social ministries like St Vincent de Paul Society and Young Adults ministries. If you currently do not belong to any group, you can gather a few friends or colleagues and come together to use this study guide.

How does it work?

There are 12 chapters in the LOTH study guide. You can follow the readings, reflections, activities, and prayers in each chapter of the study guide. Each session is designed to last about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Your group can cover the sessions on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis.

How much does it cost?

Labourers of the Harvest (LOTH) is distributed free of charge, with one copy for each person in the group.
