Religious congregations are special institutions of consecrated life, whose members, called Religious, commit themselves by public vows to observance of the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience in a community kind of life in accordance to Church approved teachings and constitutions.
Many of these religious communities were instrumental in the establishment of various homes and charities (eg Gift of Love Home by the Missionaries of Charity) and continue to be active in furthering
the social mission of the Church. |
