Catholic Welfare Services (CWS)

CWS mission is to promote human dignity, highlight the preciousness of life, encourage people to live life fully, and help people integrate better into the society.

Set up in 1959, Catholic Welfare Services (CWS) started with providing food rations and relief for the poor. Over the years, CWS has grown to be the action arm of the Catholic Church of Singapore – initiating, assisting, co-ordinating and carrying out social services to alleviate poverty and distress among the people of Singapore.

With the formation of CSCC in 2006, some of the coordination function of CWS with respect to some of the charities was assumed by CSCC.

CWS is founded on the Spirit of the Good Shepherd – leading people to love and fulfillment; and the Spirit of Good Samaritan – helping those who have fallen along the way.

CWS programmes and activities include:
Social and welfare work
Food relief programme
Scholarship aids
