The institution was set up by the Brothers of St Gabriel in 1948 to work especially with youth at risk between the ages of 11-18, to provide holistic services for them and their families.  This is done through providing a residential environment that is conducive for their education and development as well as other outreach and community-based programmes, so that these youths can realize their potential and better integrate within the community.

Boarding & Residential Services
Provides boarding and residential care for boys ages 11 18 who come primarily from large, troubled, single parent and financially needy families. Support is given to these boys to develop educationally, socially and physically by providing them with counselling, leadership training, sports, drama, music and hobby programmes as well as moral/religious instructions as part of their daily life.

Financial Assistance
Is provided to boys who come from financially needy homes which is verified by the Social workers. This funding assistance is to pay for their boarding, schooling & personal needs which include their personal basic amenities as well as school fees, books and pocket money.

Education and Training Programmes

Tuition/coaching and skills based competency based training programmes are provided to the boys. Including educational resources and facilities such as a library and computer room to encourage their interest in educational & skills acquisition. The aim is to provide the boys support not only for their schooling needs but also to equip them with some skills and certification that will help them find jobs when they move on from our institutional care.

Mentoring and Leadership

These programmes help the boy to fully realize his abilities and potential and includes local and international programmes such as Outward Bound School, Adventure Training and Service learning courses. Participation in these activities help to instill confidence and increase the boy's self esteem and worth. It also helps them to discover themselves through the process and to encourage their development and sense of purpose and being.

Sports, Social & Recreational Activities

To encourage the boys to keep healthy and fit, there are various sporting, social & recreational activities that are organized. This includes outdoor sports like basketball, football, in-line skating and archery as well as music, indoor games and other special interest activities such as Lion & Dragon Dancing.
