About Caritas Singapore

Caritas Singapore is the official social and community arm of the Catholic Church in Singapore and a member of Caritas Internationalis, a global confederation of over 160 humanitarian organisations. We are the umbrella body for over 20 Catholic charities and organisations whose work has touched the lives of many, regardless of race or religion.

Through the work of Caritas Singapore and our social mission family, we seek to serve the poor, vulnerable, and marginalised in our community. We welcome you to join us on this journey.

Caritas Name & Logo

“Caritas” means charity in Latin, and the name reminds us to live out our faith through social works.

The Caritas logo comprises three elements: the Caritas Cross, the Caritas name, and the region of Singapore. The flaming Caritas Cross symbolises Christ’s burning love for His people, an expression that forms the core of the work done by Caritas Singapore and our member organisations.

Our Social Mission Family & Caritas Agape Village

The Caritas Singapore family comprises member organisations who support a wide array of causes such as the poor, rough sleepers, children and families, victims of family violence, youth-at-risk, the elderly, the ailing and terminally ill, prisioners, low-wage migrants, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and those with physical difficulties, intellectual disabilities, and mental health conditions.

Our member organisations run over 70 programmes aimed at helping the less fortunate in society, including but not limited to financial aid, shelters, and residential care, befriending and counselling services, medical and palliative care, rehab and therapy, education and skills training, overseas humanitarian missions, public advocacy, and community outreach.

In 2015, Archbishop William Goh established the Caritas Agape Village to serve as a one-stop hub of integrated social services to meet the multiple needs of those in distress, providing holistic and coordinated care by 12 member organisations from the Caritas Singapore family—all under one roof.

Fundraising Efforts

Every year, Caritas Singapore assesses the needs of our member organisations to fund programmes that serve our brothers and sisters in need. Our grant allocation takes into consideration funding gaps for underserved needs, the organisation’s funding priorities, and the effectiveness and measurable impact of the charity’s programmes and services.

The Catholic Charities Week is an annual Archdiocesan fundraising campaign held during the season of Lent to provide the much-needed funding for the Caritas Singapore family to continue our work in the community.

Support our work by donating to Caritas Singapore or volunteering your talents and skills with our member organisations.
